Homeowners Pack the Georgia Capitol, and the House Passes an HOA Oversight Bill 155-10

Georgia's House of Representatives passed the Property Owners' Bill of Rights Act (SB 406) by a 155-10 vote, adding registration, recordkeeping, and foreclosure-limit requirements for the state's HOAs, after dozens of homeowners rallied at the Capitol for an 'HOA Advocacy Day.'

A survey cited in the reporting found that roughly 63% of respondent homeowners owed HOA fines or fees averaging well over $8,000, and nearly 40% had faced an HOA lawsuit — numbers that helped push the bill through with near-unanimous support before it was later signed into law in May.
